Nathaniel’s first birthday is coming and we are starting to plan…hmmm…ideas are welcome.

I wanted a blog for all of us, and was looking at other sites…but forget it. Tumblr is easier.
I haven’t updated awhile about Nathaniel, unfortunately. I don’t update much at all, so I will instead use this as a milestone tracker.
He has eight teeth now—as of the beginning of August (or a few days before).
He started taking steps a bit before nine months. At nine months and a week he could walk long distances.
He is really good at picking up food and eating it. Drinks out of certain sippy cups better than others. Sometimes he can’t swallow all the water, lol.
He’s great funnnn…

I’m horrible about updating my tumblr about Nathaniel, because I mostly use FB for day to day things, but here are some milestones…
Eighth and ninth teeth are cutting through the gums today. This process starting 7/23/2011…
Also, he took two steps that day without holding on to anything! And three more after that, but only Mathew saw. He has been standing on his own and looks to have his balance down pretty well, but is afraid to take steps if you let him think about it. You have to entice him by giving him toys or food.
Or technology.
Also he pretty much refuses baby foods now, so I make him green beans, carrots, fruit, toast, plain bread, bagels, pasta, or whatever we’re eating as long as it is safe. And the occasional baby food, here and there.
Last night, Nathaniel woke up in the middle of the night.
He used to sleep alllllllll through the night. 9-13 hours. So lately I’ve been like, why, why, whyyy are you doing this?
When I got him back to sleep and laid him down, I got online and googled reasons a baby would be waking up when they used to sleep all though the night.
Well, it’s called sleep regression. It happens commonly around 4 months, 9 months and 18 months. It’s because the baby’s brain development is so accelerated and so consuming that it interferes with their natural sleep rhythms. It’s involuntary for them to wake up, roll around, whatever in the middle of the night. This is totally what’s been going on…and although it isn’t lovely…at least I actually found an answer…and some happiness in it.

Seven teeth officially now. Four on top, three on bottom. First dentist appointment is July 1st.
I’m hoping to have a break from this teething business so Nathaniel can get the sleep he desires :) Even though when he is teething, the sleep is still a long stretch. There are just a few screeches in the 10-12 hour time frame.

We just had so much fun today. We being me, Mathew and Nathaniel. I love my family. We played on the floor, chased Nathaniel, he chased Mathew (crawl chasing, that is). Nathaniel loves watching me play Bejeweled Blitz. He does this thing when I’m on the floor with him where he just puts his face on my face and holds it there and it’s the cutest thing ever. Or maybe his kisses are the cutest thing ever. Mouth wide open, slobbering your cheek for a few seconds. I love it. He is just so sweet, and so fun…and almost eight months old. Cannot believe it.
He also eats so healthily. He had 26oz of formula today, along with a cup of baby yogurt for breakfast, squash for lunch, and green beans for dinner. He also had some bread. Him being healthy just makes me so happy. AND I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
